2016 - Let's Get Playing!



This year, the team at The Learning Caravan would be devoting time to advocate for more play in the early years.  The focus of our continuing professional development programmes in 2016 would be on play, the importance of play and play as a vehicle for learning.  No worksheets needed!  We would like to invite you to join us in this advocacy. 

There would be several play-based activities and professional events rolled out during the year.  We look forward to sharing our insights on play in the early years with educators and parents of young children through a series of outreach events and activities.

Please register your interest by way of subscription to our FREE newsletter if you would like to participate in these events or to receive email updates of new blog posts. Upon registration, you will receive an email that contains an activation link. Please follow the directions provided in the activation email to complete the subscription process.

Note: Registration to the newsletter is required so that you would continue to receive information on our programmes and activities.

 Operators of child care centres or Kindergarten principals are also welcomed to contact us if you would like to transform your curriculum to one that allows children more opportunities to explore and learn through play. We also do parent talks and customized staff training.

Registration for study tours in 2018 is now open. The Learning Caravan has been organizing international study tours since 2011. Our study tours were well attended by educators from Taiwan, Greece, Norway, USA, UK, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. These study groups are professional learning circles for early childhood educators motivated to gain deeper understanding of the emergent curriculum and the Reggio Emilia approach, engage in valuable discussions with global early childhood colleagues and generate fresh ideas that will transform their teaching practice. S.T.E.A.M. STORY CLUB @ THE TINKER YARD (4 to 8 years old)

Fostering creativity and celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics through children picture books. For 4 to 8 years old Connecting books with hands-on activities can help to enhance children's reading and also inspire them to create and explore.  Children love picture books.  What better way to introduce them to S.T.E.A.M. activities than through a good book?  At The Tinker Yard, we will select the perfect book that will be a springboard for children to delve into a world where they can tinker, build or just mess around with ideas.   Sessions will include a reading or revisit of the book, free exploration, and guided tinkering.
