Video | Executive Function: Skills for Life and Learning

This is a great video produced by Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University. It provides information on executive function skills that is a huge part of what The Tinker Yard promotes through our programmes.

Early years education is not just about "learning language or numbers or colours". Structured learning does not equip children with skills that are important for life and learning. Children at learning programmes/schools that are structured, prescribed and teacher-directed are not likely to develop these much UNLIKE what children at The Tinker Yard experience.

At The Tinker Yard, we aim to do what is right for children of the 21st Century. Through intentional teaching and planning & programming that is built upon big ideas that children have, allowance for children to be co-constructor of the curriculum, an environment that encourages exploration, collaboration, creation and invention and flexible facilitation by our play leaders, we help children develop executive function skills that they can fall back upon for life.

We take pride in knowing that we are doing what is right not what is popular.
