At The Tinker Yard, we will select the perfect book that will be a springboard for children to delve into a world where they can tinker, build or just mess around with ideas. Sessions will include a reading or revisit of the book, free exploration, tinkering and group S.T.E.A.M. challenges based on the theme.

Limited to a maximum of 8 children per class. Sessions run on a monthly basis on Saturday each week, up to 4 Saturdays a month.

Age: 5 to 9 years old
Time: 3.30pm to 5pm
Fee: $100 per month

March 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st, 2018
April 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th, 2018
May 5th, 12th 19th & 26th, 2018

Children love picture books. What better way to introduce them to S.T.E.A.M. activities than through a good book. Connecting books with hands-on activities can help to enhance children's reading and also inspire them to create and explore.

S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics

Each unit will start with a reading of selected literature and thinking cap questions followed by a series of S.T.E.A.M. challenges based on the theme.

Children will have easy access to a wide selection of open-ended materials and research materials to support learning and working as a team to explore, investigate and come up with solutions to the challenges.

We also advocate outdoor learning.  S.T.E.A.M. activities may take place at parks or green areas in the neighbourhood where learning takes on a different dimension.  Children will explore the same materials through a different lens; learn and investigate the natural world around them.
