Registration for study tours in 2018 is now open. The Learning Caravan has been organizing international study tours since 2011. Our study tours were well attended by educators from Taiwan, Greece, Norway, USA, UK, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. These study groups are professional learning circles for early childhood educators motivated to gain deeper understanding of the emergent curriculum and the Reggio Emilia approach, engage in valuable discussions with global early childhood colleagues and generate fresh ideas that will transform their teaching practice. We started our Melbourne study tour today.   A total of 8 educators from Singapore, Malaysia and Australia joined us today. We met at Southern Cross Station at 8.30am and made our way by train & bus to Elonera Preschool.   Gina Courtney, the preschool Director gave us a warm welcome when we arrived at the preschool.  She gave a brief introduction of the history of the preschool and shared about the preschool's philosophy and teaching approach. Elonera Preschool is a community-based preschool managed by a committee of parent volunteers. The preschool believes strongly in the importance of play in the early years. The 4-year-old programme was in session when we were there.  The children were engaged at several learning centres, working independently creating boxes using loose parts, easel painting, block play, light table play and sensory play.
