Fostering creativity and celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics through children picture books. For 4 to 8 years old Connecting books with hands-on activities can help to enhance children's reading and also inspire them to create and explore.  Children love picture books.  What better way to introduce them to S.T.E.A.M. activities than through a good book?  At The Tinker Yard, we will select the perfect book that will be a springboard for children to delve into a world where they can tinker, build or just mess around with ideas.   Sessions will include a reading or revisit of the book, free exploration, and guided tinkering. Get together as a community to chill, reflect, share, learn and be inspired. These networking nights will be held at our studio at Waterloo Centre. We will begin the evening with some games followed by sharing of ideas on ways to create engaging play spaces. Network with fellow colleagues from other preschools during the break. Refreshments & light snacks would be provided. After the break, we w ill get hands on exploring loose parts and the endless play possibilities loose parts offer. You would have an amazing experience. We had our first Early Childhood Educator Reading Club meet-up on September 24th, 2016. Three early childhood practitioners,  Nor   Haryati   Abdul Kahar , Veena Nathurmal and Alyna Chong were present that day. The session was held at The Tinker Yard | Where Curiosity Reigns. Dear Educators in Singapore, We are having our first Educator Reading Club meet-up on 24 September 2016. We will be reading Learning Together with Young Children: A Curriculum Framework for Reflective Teachers, focusing on 1 to 2 chapters each time we meet.  The meet-ups would be held once a month.  We found two book sellers that you could buy the book from:  Amazon  and  Book Depository . Alternatively, you could check with Times Bookstore, MPH or Kinokuniya if they have the book in stock. It would be helpful if you have the copy of the book prior to the meet-up but do join us for the first meet-up even if you were not able to get the book in time.
